TAIWAN
Taiwan, officially the Republic of China, is a state in East Asia and the first constitutional republic in Asia. Originally based in mainland China, the Republic of China now governs the island of Taiwan (formerly known as "Formosa"), which makes up over 99% of its territory, as well as Penghu, Kinmen, Matsu, and other minor islands. Neighbouring states include the Peoples Republic of China to the west, Japan to the east and northeast, and the Philippines to the south. Taipei is the political capital as well as economic and cultural centre in Taiwan.
When to go:
Its two distinct seasons, hot and cool, run predictably from May to October and November to March respectively, and the typhoon season runs from mid-August to early October.

Tourist/Visa/health information:
Most nationalities including British passport holders require a tourist visa to visit Vietnam. Travellers can apply for a 30 day tourist visa (single or multiple entry) from the nearest Vietnamese Embassy or via the more convenient method of applying online. The cost is approximately USD 20. After submitting an application you will receive a confirmation number, then upon arriving to Vietnam you would receive the actual visa and additionally pay a stamping fee of USD 45.Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, Typhoid and malaria tablets are recommended for protection against disease. Yellow Fever vaccination is required for travellers arriving from countries with risk of yellow fever transmission.
